06.01.2013 | Other Conditions, Urology Health News & Updates

The management of advanced prostate cancer has been well established for decades.  However, we have realized that many of these therapies have long term impact on other organ systems.  Specifically, hormone deprivation therapy (removal of testosterone from the body) can be associated with bone density loss over long periods time.  At Urological Associates, we are sensitive to this issue and have created a specific Bone Health Clinic staffed by trained health care providers who specialize the the evaluation and management of bone issues (ie osteoporosis) that could result from treatment for prostate cancer.  These specialists will evaluate each patient individually and offer therapy based on their specific needs.  Nutritional and lifestyle counseling are also provided to help preserve the overall health of our patients while they fight cancer and continue to be survivors.
